Welcome to Mountains of Mourne Country Cottages, Hanna's Close
Hanna’s Close is one of the last
remaining Clachans or medieval-style small settlements in
Ireland and one of only two in Northern Ireland which holds
a statutory listing. There are seven fine old restored

half northeast of the fishing port of Kilkeel in County
For the visitor, Hanna’s Close provides ideal
vacation accommodation in genuine, traditional, Irish
heritage cottages – but with all the comforts of the present
day. This award winning community development provides comfortable self-catering accommodation in historic surroundings between the Irish Sea and the Mountains of Mourne, on the banks of the Kilkeel River. It is within the Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is a candidate National Park.
The cottages retain many of their old features such as wooden and tiled floors, tongued and grooved ceilings, open stone fireplaces and sash windows. However, modern comfort has been provided in the cottages with fully equipped kitchens, central heating and pine furniture, making them the perfect vacation destination. No two cottages are the same and each has its own unique appearance and outlook over the Close and nearby mountains. It is truly an opportunity to “Holiday in History” both Natural and Built.
The cottages are very close to two very prestigious golf courses and provide ideal accommodation for the upcoming Irish Open. Kilkeel Golf club with its Par 72 Golf Championship Course proves a real challenge to the discerning golfer and a relaxing round of golf for the enthusiast and Royal County Down in Newcastle with its two 18 hole courses which is due to host the Irish Open Golf Tournament in May 2015.
